Countryside champion takes advice from Eco EnerG Solutions for a renewable energy heating solution
When a champion of rural business, property and land issues in the North East of England needed to replace his ageing heating system, he took the advice of the team at Eco Energ Solutions who recommended an ÖkoFEN wood pellet boiler, supplied by sole distributor Organic Energy.
Craig Sams, of Eco EnerG Solutions (Renewables) Ltd, one of Organic Energy’s Approved Installers, said: “We have now installed 11 ÖkoFEN wood pellet boiler systems and are delighted that Mark Scandle , the Northern Territory Manager for the Country Landowners Association, is so positive of his experience that he’s already recommending the system to others.
“The work was carried out under permitted planning and thankfully didn’t pose any significant issues during installation. As we were able to integrate the new boiler with Mark’s existing heating cylinder and radiators the overall disruption was kept to a minimum. Once work commenced, it took just one week to fully install and integrate the new system.”
Mark reviewed all potential renewable heating system options including heat pumps and biomass systems when the 30-year-old oil system at his rural property near Hexham reached breaking point, and then made the move to renewable energy four months ago. And he says he’s already recommending his system to those he comes in contact with through his work.
Mark explains: “Working in the rural community, I appreciate the importance of both living and working in as sustainable manner as possible. My existing heating system was not only old but increasingly inefficient so it made sense to use its replacement as a chance to consider greener options.”
Mark financed the installation of the new system without the need to defer to a loan and as it’s eligible for domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments, he anticipates that it will have paid for itself in less than five years. The cost efficiency of the system is further boosted by the overall savings in fuel costs which are anticipated to be in the region of £30 per annum.
Mark’s system is comprised of a 20Kwh Handfill OkoFEN boiler, pellet feeding system and storage, all of which are housed in the workshop. The project was completed and commissioned in December 2014 and Mark is now awaiting his first RHI payment.
He added: “I have no doubt that making the move to a greener, more sustainable form of heating was the right thing to do. The team at Eco Energ Solutions provided solid advice and carried out the installation in a professional and efficient manner and the boiler itself is working very well. We’re now looking forward to receiving our first RHI payment and I’d have no hesitation in recommending this system to others in similar situations – in fact I’ve done so to those I come in to contact with through my work with the CLA.”
